$15K Grant for First Time Buyers in Charlotte - They are going fast

On September 15, 2015 The North Carolina Housing Finance Authority put in place for the first 1000 quailfying borrowers a $15K, forgivable in 5-years, grant for first time home buyers with less than $67,000 in household income.  So here is the 411:

Only 971 Left!! As of Today 9.18.2015
The much anticipated $15,000 downpayment assistance program is HERE! It kicked off this Tuesday and already 29 of the 1000 total loans available for this specific program, have been CLAIMED!
Don't worry that means there are still 971 left but they're moving quickly! This program is available to only 5 NC counties, including Cabarrus and Mecklenburg.
Here are the highlights for Cabarrus and Mecklenburg County:

  • Must have 640+ credit score
  • Must be a first time buyer (not owned in the past three years or never owned)
  • Can be used with FHA, USDA, VA and Conventional loans
  • Combined household income cannot exceed $67,000 (or $77k if 3 or more in home)
  • Max purchase price is $245k and cannot be New Construction
  • See this link for more
I particularly like to use this with the 3% down conventional program from NCHFA and use the $15K for down payment, closing costs and single premium mortgage insurance.  It really knocks the payment down.  You can check this out on You Tube at this address:

We still offer 3% and 5% downpayment assistance available which are available with income limits up to $87,500.  This income limit is not Household income :-)
